NEW ROCKY ARROYO TIPI SITE
It is difficult to determine how large this site might have been originally. Now a single
tipi ring is in evidence but the area around the site has been bulldozed. This site
provides an example of how archaeologists are not recognizing these features as
cultural and, as a result, they are being destroyed.
This tipi ring is 2.20 m in interior diameter. Locally available cobbles and boulders have been
placed around the perimeter of the feature. No evidence of a hearth or other features are
present. A light flaked-stone scatter is situated 2 meters to the west of the ring which consists of
four flakes, both biface thinning and core reduction flakes of gray chert.
